Another game and another record for Lionel Messi. With his appearance on Saturday against Alavés at Camp Nou, the Argentine has now featured in 505 La Liga games for FC Barcelona, equalling the record of Xavi Hernández for the blaugranes in the competition.
505 appearance in the league also mean Messi makes the top 10 overall for La Liga appearances, a list led by former blaugrana keeper Andoni Zubizarreta who played 622 games for Athletic Club, Barça and Valencia during his career.
'Zubi' is followed on the list by a still playing Joaquín, Raúl González, former blaugrana Eusebio Sacristán, Paco Buyo, Manolo Sanchís, Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos, the latter still playing after 507 appearances in La Liga.
The number of appearances in the league is not the only of Xavi's records that Leo has in his sights. The Argentine just needs eight more games to reach the midfielder's record total of 767 appearances for the Barça first team.
