First team player Sergio Busquets has been visited by the club's Medical Services team this morning and the diagnosis of a sprain of the external lateral ligament of his left knee has been confirmed. The player will therefore not play this weekend, and the evolution of the injury will condition his availability.
The Barça midfielder was injured during Spain's Nations League match last Saturday against Switzerland. This season, Sergio has played a total of eight games as a starter for Barça, and 10 in total: Seven in the league and three in the Champions League. With the Spanish team, he's played in the Nations League matches against Germany and Switzerland, as well as the friendly against Portugal, for a total of 208 minutes.
Third session of the week
Meanwhile, on pitch 2 of the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, the available players from the first team continued their preparations for this Saturday’s game against Atlético Madrid.
Pending the return of the international players, the session included Ter Stegen, Piqué, Aleñá, O. Dembélé, Riqui Puig, Neto, Coutinho, Jordi Alba, Matheus, Umtiti and Junior, from the first team, and youth team players Arnau Tenas, O. Mingueza and Ramos Mingo.
The next training session for Ronald Koeman's players will be this Thursday, starting at 5.00pm CET.
