Ansu Fati has become an official member of the FC Barcelona first team. The 17-year-old, who was already training and playing with the senior squad since the beginning of last season, will wear number 22, and his buyout clause has been raised from 170 million to 400 million euros, as already announced following the review of his contract in December.
That is the same number 22 that Arturo Vidal has been wearing for the last two seasons. Previous incumbents have included Reiziger, Frank de Boer, Luis García, Saviola, Abidal and Dani Alves.
Young gun
Since he began playing first team football, Ansu Fati has broken record after record for being the youngest player ever to... And he's also done likewise for the Spanish national team after winning his first cap this month. Records in La Liga and the Champions League, for goals and for assists - it just hasn't stopped for a teenage sensation who scored 8 goals in his first 33 appearances, after making his senior debut on 25 August 2019.
Ansu Fati missed the first two preseason friendlies with Nàstic and Girona through injury but started the Gamper Trophy game with Elche and excelled on the left of attack. So he could feature against against Villarreal this Sunday, the team against which he scored Barça's 9,000th competitive goal in a 4-1 win towards the end of last season.
