Antonie Griezmann will wear the number 7 shirt for FC Barcelona this coming season, following in the footsteps of stars such as Villa, Pedro, Larsson and Saviola.
On July 14, 2019, the Frenchman was presented at the Camp Nou with the number 17 shirt, which he wore last season. The number 7 was occupied by Philippe Coutinho at that time, meaning Griezmann could not maintain the squad number he had worn at Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid.
With the double-digit shirt, he scored 15 goals in 41 games.
Before signing for Barça, the number 7 shirt had been Griezmann's since 2010/11 at Real Sociedad. He wore it for four seasons in San Sebastián, then a further five when playing for Atletico Madrid.
He was also the number 7 for France, including for their 2018 World Cup win in Russia.
"I would like to get the number 7 shirt back," said Griezmann back at the end of March. Now he gets the opportunity to reunite with what has proven to be a lucky number for the forward.
