Iniesta: 'The final in Rome was one of my best games'

The former Barça captain looks back at the 2009 Champions League final against Manchester United in an interview with UEFA.com

The third Champions League win for Barça, a night to remember in Rome back in May 2009. The former Barça midfielder Andrés Iniesta looked back at the final in an interview with UEFA.com, remembering it as one of 'my best games.' Iniesta added: 'I really wanted to play in that final because of what it meant to me."

11 years later after that fateful night, Iniesta remembers the moment that he broke from midfield and sent a ball through to Samuel Eto'o who opened the scoring for Barça. "I found a bit of a gap and I took the chance to accelerate a little. I saw Samue to the right and he I found him one on one with the keeper and he finished perfectly," said the former Barça captain.

"We played in a calm manner and we dominated the game," recalled Iniesta. That dominance led to a second goal, scored by Leo Messi to guarantee Pep Guardiola's team the third Champions League victory in the Club's history. "The goal was spectacular and a really difficult one to score. It was the first treble and there was something magical and unique about it and we will always remember it," concluded Iniesta.
