The new coach of Celta Vigo played for Barça between the 1992/93 and 1998/99 seasons

During his time with the Blaugrana, he won 11 titles: 4 league championships, 2 Copas del Rey, 2 European Super Cups, 1 Catalonia Cup, 2 Spanish Super Cups.

The new coach of the Galician team also started off his coaching career at FC Barcelona. With the U19A side he won the league and the cup.

Maccabi Tel Aviv, Salzburg (with whom he won two Bundesligas), Brighton, Watford, Saint-Étienne and Olympiacos were the next stops on his coaching journey. It should also be noted that Oscar García's second cousin, Roger Garcia, also played for FC Barcelona between the 1994/95 and 1998/99 seasons.
