Luis Suárez was the architect of Barça’s comeback win against Inter Milan at Camp Nou on Wednesday in the Champions League. The Uruguayan’s brace helped the blaugranes to a 2-1 victory over the Serie A side, the first a brilliant volley and the second a striker’s finish after a great run from Leo Messi.
The striker’s brace of goals was his first in the competition since scoring twice against Celtic in the group stage back in September 2016.
The two goals also allow Luis Suárez to move into third place for Barça on the all-time list of Champions League goalscorers. With 22 goals in the competition he is now only behind Rivaldo on 25 goals and, of course, Leo Messi who has a mind bending 112 goals.
Landmark figures
Against Inter Milan, Luis Suárez also made his 50th appearance in a Barça shirt in the Champions League and celebrated by scoring his 100th and 101st goals at Camp Nou in official competition in just 123 matches.
Top scorer
Luis Suárez remains top scorer for Barça this season as his total now stands at five goals. His double against Inter was his second of the season with the Uruguayan also scoring twice in La Liga against Valencia. Let’s not forget that Suárez was also top scorer in pre-season with three goals in three matches.
