Frenkie de Jong is already in Barcelona. The new Barça signing arrived this Thursday afternoon and will undergo the relevant medical tests that need to be passed on Friday, before being presented as a new player of FC Barcelona. Upon his arrival at El Prat Airport, the Dutchman emphasised: "I am very happy to be here finally. As a child it was a dream for me to play at Barça, and now I'm here so it's great. I’m really looking forward to setting foot on the Camp Nou pitch for the first time.”
The Dutch midfielder explained: "I like Barca's way of playing, the philosophy of Barça and Ajax are very similar, and I think I will enjoy it,” adding "I'm happy to be able to play with Messi, who I have always followed. Now my idol will be my team-mate." Finally, he also recalled the Club's relationship with Holland: "Barça and Holland have always had a great, special connection, and I hope to follow in that tradition. I want to be one of the great Dutch players who have played at FC Barcelona."
Friday, the presentation
De Jong's signing was announced last January, at a cost of 75 million euros plus 11 million in variables. This Friday at 6.15pm CEST, the Dutchman will sign his contract with the club for the next 5 seasons, until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Thereafter, a photo session will take place on the pitch at the Camp Nou, and later, the official presentation and the press conference, which will be held at the Auditorium 1899. Undoubtedly, De Jong has a very complete Friday, as he finally gets to set foot in his new home.
