Ivan Rakitic has played 50 games for FC Barcelona in the Champions League, chalking up his half century in the 1-0 victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford. He’s started 45 of those games, winning 34, drawing nine and losing just seven. The Barça No.4, a key player for both Ernesto Valverde and Luis Enrique Martínez, has scored six goals in these matches, as well as giving five assists. In his first season as a blaugrana (2014-15), he was proclaimed European champion and scored in the final against Juventus.
He also played 12 matches for Schalke 04 in the Champions League, contributing three assists, but for Sevilla, the only European action he saw came in the Europa League. In fact, counting all of the matches the Croat has played in European competitions, Rakitic has reached 100 with his appearance in the win at the Theatre of Dreams.
Suárez, 50 games in the Champions League
Luis Suárez has reached 50 games in the Champions League, including his appearance in the win against Manchester United. The Uruguayan has worn the Barça shirt 45 times in the competition and has played in it on five other occasions for Ajax. Like Rakitic, Suárez was key to the Champions League win in 2015, also scoring in the final. Of his 50 games, he has won 34, drawn eight and lost eight, scoring 20 goals and giving 17 assists. At Old Trafford it was Suárez's header that was turned into his own net by Luke Shaw.
