FC Barcelona have five players out on loan this season, and all of them Can feel reasonably happy with the way things are going. Denis Suárez and Gerard Deulofeu are impressing at Sevilla, Cristian Tello is getting a game at Porto, so is Alex Song at West Ham, while Afellay in featuring Greece for Olympiacos. Here’s a look at how each of the five are faring:
Top stuff from Denis Suárez and Deulofeu
Sevilla manager Unai Emery has plenty of faith in Denis Suárez and Gerard Deulofeu. The former is a key playmaker in his first eleven, having appeared in 18 of the 21 league games to date, scoring two goals. The Andalusians are fourth in the table, four points behind Atlético Madrid, and are also still involved in the Europa League. It was a Denis Suárez goal against Rijeka at the Sánchez Pizjuan that secured their place in the knockout phase.
Gerard Deulofeu is playing a more prominent role as the season progresses. The striker has been given 627 minutes in the league and has scored one goal.
Tello positive at Porto
Julen Lopetegui has used Tello in all but one league game this season at Porto, and the striker has provided two goals and one assist. One of those was a beautiful free kick converted just a week ago. Tello has also played all but one of the team’s Champions League fixtures, where he’s produced one goal and two assists. Porto are through to the last sixteen, where they’ll face Basel.
Song and Afellay excelling
Alex Song is on loan at West Ham and has impressed in his 14 outings in the Premier League. The Hammers are currently eighth in the table and in with a good shout of qualifying for Europe next season.
Meanwhile, Afellay is playing his football at Olympiakos, where there has been a change of manager this winter, with Vitor Pereira replacing Michel. The Dutchman has played 11 league games and every Champions League fixture, although his side failed to progress from the group stage and have instead dropped into the Europa League, where they’ll be up against Dnipro of Ukraine.
