Javier Saviola is the new assistant coach for the Barça U19A side for the 2022/23 season. The Argentinian former player is starting his starting his third spell at the Club as Òscar López' assistant after donning the jersey for the first team between 2001 and 2004, and later on for the 2006/07 season.
The Argentine has started preseason with the U19As this week alongside Óscar López at Vall d'En Bas, where they will start to prepare the team for a season in which they will defend their Liga División de Honor and Copa de Campeones titles.
Third spell at the Club
Saviola had two spells as a Barça player. He arrived in Barcelona from River Plate in 2001 aged only 19 years old as the next big thing in Argentinian football. He left on loan to Monaco in 2004, before spending the following season on loan at Sevilla. He returned to Barça for the 2006/7 season, bringing his two spells at the Club to an end, playing a total of 172 games and scoring 72 goals.
Youth football assistant coaches confirmed
As well as Javier Saviola for the U19As, all the other assistant coaches for the Barça youth teams have been confirmed. Gerard Sarra remains with Ibán Cuadrado and the U19Bs, while Arnau Blanco will be Iván Carrasco's assistant for the U16As and Eric Campos will assist Pol Planas with the U16Bs. Pere Olivé will continue assisting David Sánchez in the U14As and Joan Pons will be Albert Puig's assistant in the U14Bs.
The assistant coaches for 7-a-side football will be as follows: Cristian López (U12A), Sergi Borrallo (U12B), Albert Batalla (U12C), Enric Davi (U12D), Enric Monros (U10A), Paco Revert (U10B), Adrià Monras (U10C), Albert Moratalla (U10D) and Pol Castellà (U8).
