After two draws, the FC Barcelona U19 team needed something big to boost their spirits, and that is precisely what they got on Sunday afternoon. Even without such key players as Mboula, Cucu, Lee and Guillemenot, they produced an absolute humdinger of a performance and cruised home to the tune of a 10-0 win against Santo Domingo.
It was FCB all the way, but despite plenty of early chances it took 18 minutes for Abel Ruiz to open the rout. Guillem Jaime and Eric Montes soon added a couple more, with the visitors yet to create any real threat of their own.
By the break they had already made it to half a dozen goals, half of those claimed by hat-trick hero Pérez.
Barça could have eased the pressure on the gas pedal after the interval, but they were hungry for more goals. And so they came, with two more from open play and an Alasana penalty before Jang scored his first goal of the season after 76 minutes to take the score into double figures.
The win leaves Barça top of their division with 32 points, five more than second placed Espanyol. Next week should bring a tough test though, a visit to the ground of third placed Cornellà.
