Ricardo Quaresma was 19 years of age when he came to Barça from Sporting Clube in Portugal, the pacy, powerful at the time of the top talents in European Football. After just a season with the blaugranes he eventually retired from professional football in 2022 at the age of 39.
In the summer of 2003, a 19 year old talent from the Portuguese league called Ricardo Quaresma arrived at Barça. Under new president Joan Laporta and new coach Frank Rijkaard, the winger made 28 appearances for the first team that season in a campaign that saw a lot of changes in the squad. His only goal as a blaugrana came in a league game against Albacete in a 5-0 victory. In the summer of 2004, however, he returned to Portugal, signing for FC Porto where he stayed for two season before departing for Serie A.
In Italy Quaresma won the Champions League with Inter Milan in 2010 and in 2016 he was of the Portugal squad that claimed the European title. For the national side he made 80 appearances, scoring 10 goals. After spells with Chelsea and in Turkish football, Quaresme eventually retired at Vitória de Guimarães in 2022 at the age of 39.
