Defender who could also play in midfield, Damià Abella Pérez was in Olot in Catalonia on 15 April 1982 and made his first team debut under Frank Rijkaard in the 2004/05 season.
After coming up through the B team, Frank Rijkaard gave Damià his first appearance in a Barça shirt in a Copa del Rey game against Gramanet in October 2004. He went on to play 10 games for the blaugranes before leaving on loan for Racing Santander in January 2006 and then signing for Betis that summer. After four seasons in Andalusia the defender had spells with Osasuna and then Middlesborough in England before retiring at the age of 34.
