Born in Betxí (Castellon) on 5 July 1962, Robert first played football for Villarreal from 1975 to 1979, before moving on to join C.D. Castelló. The 1981/82 season saw him sign for Valencia, where he would make his Primera Division debut. He joined FC Barcelona for the 1986/87 season and instantly become a key player in the team.
After spending four seasons at the Club, he returned to Valencia in the summer of 1990. His final team were Cordoba, where he hung up his boots at the age of 39 years old in 2001.
A quality left-sided central midfielder with a knack for arriving in the box, he was also very technically sound and had a good reading of the game. A great header of the ball with both a dogged nature and goalscoring skills, he performed excellently during his four seasons with the Club. He wore the blaugrana jersey 248 times, scoring 69 goals. While at Barça he won two Copas del Rey and one European Super Cup. His return to Valencia in 1990 came while the Club were on pre-season in the Netherlands. He became the oldest player to play in the Primera Division aged 37 years old during his second spell at Villarreal. His final club were Cordoba, a Segunda Division outfit at the time.
