Òscar Mingueza, Jandro Orellana and Guillem Jaime signed their contract renewals with Barça on Tuesday afternoon. Mingueza and Jandro commit to the Club until 2021, with the option of a two-year extension; while Guillem Jaime signs until 2020, also with the possibility of two more years. All three players won the UEFA Youth League this season with the U19A side and will have a buyout clause of €100 million.
The defender Òscar Mingueza, aged 19, has spent his whole career at Barça. He started at the FCB Escola and then went through the academy ranks. The coach Sergi Milà identified his strengths as a centre back in the U12A team. He has won the league with all the age groups he has played in and with the U19 international team. He played a prominent role in the UEFA Youth League victory as one of the team’s captains.
The midfielder Jandro Orellana, aged 17, arrived at Barça in 2014 from Espanyol, having also played for Escola de Futbol Gavà. He adapted quickly to FC Barcelona’s playing style and he celebrated his first league title with the U16B side, before adding further championships with the U16A, U19B, and U19B. He is also a UEFA European Under-17 Championship with Spain. He suffered an injury, requiring surgery, in the final of the competition against England but still returned in time to play the Final Four of the UEFA Youth League and help his team become European champions.
The versatile Guillem Jaime arrived at Barça with the U7 side from Torreforta. He is 19-years-old and has spent lots of time in a taxi taking him from Tarragona to the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. He won his first league with the U11A team and hasn’t looked back since through his time at the academy. He captained the U19A team to the league title and UEFA Youth League victory.
