Barça Atlètic have finally put an end to their negative streak. They had gone for an alarming nine games without a win (most of which were draws) but on Sunday came out tops against Arenteiro in a game that also saw them climb out of the relegation zone.
It was a very tight encounter in Galicia, and the home side had plenty of chances to take the lead early on, with Diego Kochen thoroughly impressive in the Barça net, and wasn't until well into the first half that the momentum swung Barça's way. And they capitalised when Víctor Barberà received the ball on the edge of the area and spotted the opposing keeper off his line. His chip came off to perfection and Barça would be going in for the interval as 1-0 leaders.
Most of the second half was about Arenteiro, and an equaliser looked somewhat more probable than an extension of Barça's lead. But with seven minutes to go, Dani Rodríguez delivered an impeccable strike and that was 2-0.
Arenteiro kept pressing but it wasn't until the 92nd minute that they finally nicked a goal of their own. There were several minutes of injury time still to play, and they were nervous moments for Albert Sanchez. But Barça held on, and three very important points are in the bag.
