It wasn't to be. The dream of promotion will have to wait for Barça B after they were beaten by Sabadell (1-2), despite going ahead with a goal from Monchu. An early goal in the second half for Sabadell gave them a foothold, before they scored the winner in the 73rd minute.
The match began with Sabadell on the front foot, forcing a few saves from Iñaki Peña, however, it was Garcia Pimienta's side who went ahead against the run of play when Monchi scored from a direct free-kick (1-0, min 37).
Sabadell turn the tie around
In the first action of the second half Sabadell equalised, Aleix Coch getting on the end of a corner to make it 1-1 on 47. That seemed to galvanise Barça B who took control of the ball but were unable to find the net. Ilaix had a great chance, but saw his shot go wide of the goal.
Ronald Araujo had to leave the pitch with a knee injury on 75 minutes, incensing the Barça bench who thought that a penalty should've been awarded in their favour after a foul on the defender. Just before that change, Sabadell completed the comeback with an assist from Edgar to Néstor (1-2, min 73).
Barça B continued to press and although Akieme appeared to have equalised, the referee gave offside. At the final whistle, Barça B were left without the reward of promotion, but can still be proud of a great season.
