Barça B 2-2 Nàstic: First official game at Estadi Johan Cruyff ends in draw

Jorge Cuenca and Guillem score first official goals at the new venue, but local derby ends all square

The first official fixture at the Estadi Johan Cruyff was always going to be historic occasion, but the reserves were unable to celebrate with a win as the local derby with Tarragona ended two apiece.

Jorge Cuenca and Guillem put Barça B in command but Nàstic were able to pull back both times and snatch a point in a dramatic game.

The Barça B players took to the field wearing shirts in encouragement of Carevic, who is out with a long-term injury. And in the very first move of the game, Cuenca headed in a corner – the first official goal at the new stadium.

Nàstic soon responded and had hit the post twice in the first quarter of an hour and it was only thanks to heroics from Iñaki Peña that it looked like Barça would go in for the break a goal to the good, but Pedro poached an equaliser just before the whistle.

Nàstic hit the woodwork yet again after the restart, but Barça B were playing the more positive football and were rewarded when Guillem found the net on 54 minutes, following a splendid combination move with Morer.

But much as Barça looked to be controlling the game and holding onto their lead, a headed off a free kick late in the game meant they would have to settle for a point.
