Travel advice for the Girona game at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys

FC Barcelona continues with transport plan in conjunction with the city council to help Barça members and fans travelling to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys

There are a number of different events taking place on Sunday 30 March at 4.15pm CEST, with large crowds expected. Barça are set to face Girona at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, while Cirque du Soleil show Corteo takes place at the Palau Sant Jordi and the final stage of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya with the finish at Montjuïc. The Club is again providing travel advice given the impact of these events happening simultaneously on Montjuïc.

In order to provide travel options on Montjuïc and meet every need, the Barcelona City Council, the local police force, and FC Barcelona agreed a transport plan that aims to make travel to Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys easier for Barça members and fans. Nevertheless, due to the stage finish of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, access for cars and motorbikes will be affected between 11am and 1.15pm. At this time access will be on foot only or via at the escalators which will be in operation during this time.

As is normal on a match day, private vehicle access to most of the Montjuïc area will be restricted from 1.15pm CEST onwards. No vehicles will be allowed close to the Estadi Olímpic and accessing the Olympic Ring area will require accreditation. As always, fans making their way to the Estadi Olímpic on Saturday and for every other Barça home game are encouraged to do so on foot or using public transport.

The measures in the plan that are already in place that make accessing and exiting the Montjuïc area and the stadium easier for fans for every match, will also be applied to those attending the Cirque du Soleil show and the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, given all three events are coinciding in this case.

More public transport provided

Arriving as early as possible is another general recommendation for every match.

When it comes to public transport, there are the following options:

  • The Montjuïc funicular train from Paral·lel
  • Metro and FGC services, with the closest stations being:
    • Espanya (L1, L3, L8, plus FGC lines)
    • Poble Sec (L3)
    • Paral·lel (L2, L3)
    • Foc (L10 Sud)
    • Magòria - La Campana (L8, plus FGC lines)
  • TMB buses to:
    • Plaça d’Espanya (D20, D40, H12, H16, V7, 13, 23, 46, 52, 65, 79, 91, 109, 150, and 165)
    • Passeig de la Zona Franca (H16, V3,  V5, 23, 109, and 125)

The Olympic Ring can also be reached on foot via a series of escalators from Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina, or by taxi that will drop you off close by, but remember access will be limited due to the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya. Please note that there will be no left luggage service available.

When it comes to motorbikes, there are 3,500 parking spaces around the stadium, except for the period affected by the presence of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya. For those with no other alternative method of transport, cars can be parked at the Fira de Gran Vía de Hospitalet for a special rate with advance payment only. There will be a free shuttle bus to and from between the car park and the stadium.

Change of stop for shuttle bus

On this occasion, due to events taking place at Montjuïc, the stop for the shuttle bus will be moved to Avinguda de Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia, in front of the CosmoCaixa building. The service will be available from 2 hours before kick off until 7.15pm.

The Club also provides advice regarding accessibility for people with disabilities, reduced mobility, wheelchair users, and their companions.
