BIHUB invests in Metrica Sports to democratise tactical analysis in football

The Barça Innovation Hub (BIHUB), FC Barcelona’s global platform for sports innovation and knowledge management, has acquired a stake in the start-up Metrica Sports with the goal of taking a further step into the digitalisation of tactical analysis of football matches. Thanks to the Metrica Nexus instrument developed by this emerging company after a decade of working with the world’s top teams, match and tactical analysis technology used by elite professionals is now accessible to coaches and analysts at all levels.
Since 2014, Metrica Sports has been working towards a clear goal, namely to break down the barriers to access to advanced match analysis. This has led to the development of a unique tracking technology that requires no hardware and can process any video, automatically detecting phases of play. This breakthrough, combined with a business model adapted to all needs, has enabled the company to reach more than 1,000 customers and establish a presence almost everywhere on the planet.
Starting in April, all students enrolled on BIHUB’s online courses will receive a free licence for Metrica Sports software for the duration of their training, so that future coaches and analysts can integrate professional tools into their education.
