The heart of New York lights up with an audiovisual piece first published on FC Barcelona's social media channels

NEW YORK — Here in New York, El Clásico is already in the air. The screens in Times Square will project the image of the Statue of Liberty wearing the new FC Barcelona shirt for the 2024/25 season this Friday at 7 p.m. We first saw this AI-generated audiovisual piece an hour earlier on all of the Club's social networks, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube Shorts, WhatsApp Channel, and Threads.

The projection is being displayed on the screen known as 'The Monsta' at 1540 Broadway, where Broadway and 45th Street meet. The audiovisual piece will be shown intermittently until 3 p.m. ET on Saturday (local time), until exactly four hours before the anticipated match between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Barça fans in New York have several hours to seize this unique opportunity to visit Times Square and take a photo with the most Barça-themed Statue of Liberty ever seen.

Lighting up Times Square: A Barça Tradition

The colors of Barça have illuminated the heart of New York before. Two years ago, the Nasdaq and 221 Clear Channel screens in Times Square lit up to announce the auction of the first NFT in the Club's history, which took place hours later at the prestigious auction house Sotheby's. The projection of the digital artwork "In a Way, Immortal" recreated the legendary moment when Johan Cruyff scored a crucial "flying" goal against Atlético Madrid goalkeeper Miguel Reina.

More recently, in early 2024, the screens in Times Square also projected a video for the 'The Shirt with the Most History' campaign, aimed at raising awareness about human rights violations. The projected piece represented migrants, refugees, and displaced people, showing a 3D character through various scenarios representing the journey in search of a better life.
