FC Barcelona will be ending 2023 with a December 21 friendly in Dallas, kicking off at 8pm local time (3am CET), against Club América. It will be the team's final game before the festive break.
Immediately after the final whistle against Almería at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys (on December 20 at 7pm CET), the team will be packing their bags and heading off to the United States, where the 'Eagles' will be waiting to play them in a friendly at the Cotton Bowl Stadium, capacity 90,000, and the very same place that they played Juventus in the summer of 2022. Once the game is over, the players will be heading back to Barcelona to begin the Christmas break.
Organised by Soccer Media Solutions, this will be the chance to meet Club América, the current club of former Barça man Jonathan Dos Santos, for the seventh time. The first time the two teams played was during the famous 1937 North American tour, and the most recent game between the sides was 12 years ago in August 2011, also in Dallas and which the Catalans won 2-0.
Club América, the side with the most Liga MX titles to their name, have already been confirmed champions of the regular season of the Closing Championship, and will be tops seeds in the playoffs, which finish the week before they play Barça. Proceeds from the game will be used to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Otis that caused such dreadful damage to the city of Acapulco in early November.
