FC Barcelona is continuing to lead the way on different technology platforms. The latest example is its plans to expands the club's Whatsapp Channel, which was initially launched on July 19 in Singapore and Colombia.
After attracting 2,900,000 followers in less than three months, the service is now going to expanded to new countries, thus helping to keep fans updated on all things blaugrana in different parts of the world.
This Whatsapp function is used so group members can receive notifications about goings-on at the club in the simplest, safest and most direct and private of ways. A WhatsApp Channel is a one-way communication system used by admins to send text, photos, videos, stickers and surveys to all their subscribers. Users will find a new tab called Updates where they can find info from whatever channels they have chosen to follow, which are kept separate from the usual chats with friend, families and communities.
Barça was one of a small number of organisations picked by WhatsApp for the launch of its Channels, and was the only football club to feature in its presentation video and other publicity to promote the new service. That's just one further example of FC Barcelona's leadership in the social media realm, where the growth has been constant for many years.
