Farewell party for the Spotify Camp Nou as we know it

“Full of History, Full of Future”, that is the tag-line for what is much more than a mere league fixture between FC Barcelona and Mallorca this Sunday at 7pm CEST. It is also the very last game at Spotify Camp Nou before its transformation into a new-look venue, and also the last home appearance for the departing Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

Come dressed in blaugrana

To help make this an occasion to remember, all fans coming to the game are being encouraged to come fully dressed in Barça's famous blaugrana colours, with shirts, scarves and everything else to welcome the players onto the pitch with a wonderful mosaic.

The stadium gates will be open from 5pm and fans are advised to get there early to make sure they don't miss any of the pre-game activities. Fans are also advised to come on public transport and to go to the gate stated on their tickets, and to have all the relevant documents ready for inspection at the entrances.

Fun on the forecourt

There will be all kinds of happenings on the Spotify Camp Nou forecourt in the build-up, including an exhibition of some of the biggest trophies won in the stadium, which fans can have their photo taken with. There will also be a number of Photocalls a mural where fans can leave messages and plenty of musical entertainment.

Before the game, the speaker will be calling the names of the players from the very first game in the stadium in 1957, along with their pictures on the giant screen, and using the voice of the late-great stadium announcer Manel Vich to welcome fans into the ground.

Blaugrana mosaic and performance by Lildami

When the players come out, the Barça anthem will be sung a capella by the fans. This is the moment to show those blaugrana colours, the idea being to create a spectacular mosaic.

There will also be a half-time show with music by Catalan singer-songwriter Lildami, who will be performing his popular hit Supermercat.

Farewell to Busquets and Alba

Once the game is over, the spotlight will fall on Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, with a guard of honour from players and coaching staff. There will also be videos of the players on the giant screens, and they will both have some words to say too.

This will be followed by a tribute to the 66 years at Spotify Camp Nou with the reading of the same poem by Josep Maria de Sagarra that was read on the day of its opening. Giant shirts will then appear in tribute to each of the decades in the stadium, and which will be positioned by representatives of different areas of the club.

Then there will be a traditional sardana dance around the centre circle by local dance groups, all to the tune of a special variation of the Barça anthem performed by the Cobla Principal de Terrassa.

Then one of the longest serving members and a member of the Barça senate will be handing gifts to two of the youngest members as a symbol of the stadium being handed down from generation to generation.

And following an emotional final song, the celebrations will end the way all the best things in Catalonia end with a spectacular firework display.

Special strip

The Barça players will also be wearing a special shirt bearing the words ‘Ple d’història. Ple de futur’ (Full of history, full of future') and the years 1957 to 2023, along with an image of the Spotify Camp Nou. The shirt is on exclusive sale at the Barça Store this week so fans can wear it when they come to the match.
