Lusaka will be the next destination for the Barça Legends. On May 25, the Heroes Stadium in the Zambian capital will host a friendly between the stars of the Barca past and the Zambia Football Legends, a team made up of the players who won the 2012 Africa Cup. More than a year after their last appearance, the Legends of FC Barcelona, coached by Albert 'Chapi' Ferrer, will return to the scene visiting Africa. The historic Anfield stadium was the place where they performed for the last time, in March 2022, with a victory (1-2) against Liverpool.
The match of May 25 was presented this morning at a press conference in Lusaka, with the presence of the Minister of Youth, Sports and Arts of Zambia, Elvis Nkandu; the director of King Of Africa Sports, the company organizing the match, Tichaona Mawoni; the person in charge of the Barça Legends project, Josep Maria Meseguer; and the coach of the Barça Legends, Albert Ferrer.
Third visit to Africa
The day after the match against the Zambian legends, on Friday 26 May, the Barça Legends expedition will visit the Mosi-oa-tunya national park, where Victoria Falls are located. This is the third visit that this team has made to the African continent, after the ones made in June 2019 in Mohammédia (Morocco) and in November 2017 in Maputo (Mozambique).
The Barça Legends program is a stable project of professional collaboration between FC Barcelona and some of its former players, which contributes to the globalization of the Barça brand and helps make the Club's values known throughout the world. This project was launched in 2016 and is directly managed by FC Barcelona.
