The run up to the Clásico saw two focuses of attention. On the one hand the Barça futsal team, recent trophy winners in Antequera, and on the other, Àlex Roca, the first athletic with a 76% disability to finish a marathon.
Jesús Velasco's team showed off their Copa del Rey trophy to the fans at Spotify Camp Nou following the first team's warm up. Last Sunday they claimed the title with a thrilling extra time win over Cartagena in the final, a victory dedicated to captain Sergio Lozano who had suffered a serious knee injury in the semi final.
Just before the start of the game, athlete and FC Barcelona Foundation ambassador Àlex Roca took the honorary kick off. The sportsman became the first person with 76% cerebral paralysis to finish a marathon when he completed the Barcelona event in March.
