FC Barcelona has hired the law firm Fieldfisher, which will carry out risk assessment and control monitoring functions for the Espai Barça project, in liaison with the club's Compliance and Internal Audit areas. All of these are part of a new Espai Barça Monitoring Committee, a group of professionals who will provide an additional layer of supervision and monitoring throughout the project's development process.
The club's intention is to thereby strengthen internal controls through the participation of an independent firm that will be responsible for supervising compliance with current legislation and internal procedures with regard to the most high-risk activities of the Espai Barça project. Fieldfisher, which has headquarters in Barcelona and Madrid, has more than 50 years of experience in the legal market advising national and international clients, and in sectors such as sports, engineering and public works, automotive, technology, the pharmaceutical industry and foundations, among others. Internationally, Fieldfisher is part of Fieldfisher Global, a firm with 25 offices and 1,406 professionals in the main business hubs of Europe, China and the United States (Silicon Valley).
This is yet another example of the club's commitment to Espai Barça, which was already evident during the Referendum campaign. In observance of the principle of transparency that the Board of Directors is applying to this project, members and fans will be informed of the progress and will be involved throughout the process
