FC Barcelona history in a shirt
Every Barça fan has an emotional connection with a particular period in the club’s history. From the recent era that has seen a flow of trophies both at home and abroad, to other times and legendary players when there were often much longer waits between successes. It is now easier than ever to proudly recall those bygone days with the Retro 1899 Collection of official FC Barcelona strips, which reproduce some of the famous shirts worn over the years as original, comfortable streetwear.
FC Barcelona is offering shirts modelled on designs of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, such as the fabulous away kit of the 74/75 season that was immortalised by the likes of Cruyff, Asensi, Neeskens and Rexach, with its classic yellow shirt and blaugrana diagonal. Another item in the collection is inspired by the uniform of the late 19070s, this one on the traditional vertical stripes that the club is famed for around the world. It’s collar-less design even includes the captain’s armband in the colours of the Catalan flag on the left sleeve.
Fans can also don the blaugrana jersey inspired by the one worn in 80/(81 by Quini, Tente Sánchez and Lobo Carrasco when they beat Sporting in the Copa del Rey Final. And of course, there is the shirt that the Dream Team wore in 90/91 and 91/92, the golden era of Stoichkov, Koeman, Laudrup et al under the orders of Johan Cruyff.
Those who remember the incredible performances with Maradona, Schuster and Simonsen in the squad might prefer the yellow shirt with a vertical blaugrana stripe that dressed the players for the 81/82 season.
The Retro 1899 also includes the newer design that harks back to the away kit of the 95/96 and 96/97 seasons, which included different tones of blue-green and vertical geometric figures, and which brings to mind the time when great managers Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique were great players.
And for the most nostalgic of all, there is also a replica of the shirt that FC Barcelona wore in its first year, and after which the collection is named.
Available online and in official stores
The different articles are available in cotton or polyester, depending on the product, and are very faithful copies of the original versions in terms of design, materials, colours and details. They are all available ion adult sizes, and in some cases for children too.
The Retro 1899 Collection is on sale in the Barça Stores at Camp Nou, Canaletes, Passeig de Gracia and Airport T1, as well on the FC Barcelona online sales platforms.
