The facility receives the "Silver Award" in the Public Space category

FC Barcelona have received the Silver Award at the IAUD 2020 International Design Awards in the Public Space category, for the Estadi Johan Cryuff. The awards were announced today, and the project by Batlle and Roig Arquitectes was recognised by the jury as a facility that combines “a legendary Club, a legendary player, and now a large and complex project based on Universal Design (UD) criteria. This large building proposal demonstrates a wonderful set of inclusive design values in its conception and general details.”

The International Design Awards were established in 2010 to recognise projects and products that guarantee that all people, regardless of age, gender, nationality, ethnicity, culture, customs or other factors, can enjoy a more comfortable, active and independent life.

The IAUD, organisers of the award, was created and is based in Japan, carrying out activities aimed at contributing to the healthy development of society and improving well-being as a whole, through greater dissemination and updating of Universal Design.

The Estadi Johan Cruyff is the first finished piece of the Barça Espai project, and was inaugurated on August 27th, 2019 as the venue for Barça B and Barça Women games, as well as Under-19s A matches in European competition.

The facility, with a 6,000 spectator capacity, is characterised by being a modern, efficient and sustainable structure that incorporates different innovative technologies. It was one of the first stadiums in Europe to install LED lighting. The project shows a clear commitment to accessibility for people with reduced mobility.
