FC Barcelona Identity
The FC Barcelona values must be present in every aspect of our athletes' training programmes. These values are respect, effort, humility, teamwork and ambition. Here at La Masia, we believe that values and attitudes are learned and, therefore, must be shared by all the agents that are involved in the training process - athletes, coaches and families -, so that these values and attitudes can forge their personalities.
A core feature of the educational content that is offered is knowledge of the Club, its identity, its history and its professional sports. We are helped in doing this by the FC Barcelona Foundation, the different groups of former players and the FC Barcelona Museum.
Our challenge is for everyone who forms part of FC Barcelona to know about the landmark events in the history of the Club, such as the first major show of travelling support and the expression of the Catalan identity at the Cup Winners' Cup Final in Basel, what it meant to win the first European Cup at Wembley in 1992, and how such stars as Luis Suárez, Ladislao Kubala, Johan Cruyff and Pep Guardiola marked eras for the Club. Professional athletes are also taught the histories of their own particular sports, such as Valero Rivera's great handball Dream Team, the first basketball Euroleague, the golden age of roller hockey and the huge successes in futsal of the last decade. This is what FC Barcelona Identity is all about. It’s knowing more about the Club in order to be aware of the responsibility of being part of the greatest sporting institution in the world.
