FC Barcelona celebrates traditional Christmas lunch with the media
This afternoon, FC Barcelona's Auditori 1899 was the setting for the traditional Christmas lunch that the Club President, Joan Laporta, offered to representatives of the media. An event that brought together more than 200 journalists in an atmosphere of recognition and proximity, reaffirming the link between Barça and the communications sector.
The event began with an emotional minute of silence in memory of the communications professionals who have left us this year, a gesture of respect and tribute to their career and dedication.
The President's words
In his opening speech, President Joan Laporta wanted to highlight the importance of journalism in society and the key role of the media in the dissemination of information related to the Club. He expressed his gratitude for the constant presence of Barça in the media and praised the work of journalists, recalling that journalism is a profession that must be guided by the values of the search for truth, independence and equity.
In his speech, Laporta recalled that FC Barcelona's relationship with the media dates back to its origins, when the founder of the Club, Joan Gamper, placed an advertisement in the newspaper to call on all football fans to join in the founding of Barça. A gesture that symbolises the Club's historical roots in communication and which is still an essential part of its identity today.
The President also took the opportunity to discuss some of the Club's current issues:
- Agreement with Nike: The President described the new agreement with the sports brand as "the best in history", highlighting its strategic importance for the Club's future. However, he recalled that this agreement must be ratified at the General Assembly of Members. According to Laporta, this step is essential to strengthen Barça's economic structure and move forward with the registration of players.
- Return to Spotify Camp Nou: Joan Laporta explained that the Club is looking forward to returning to Spotify Camp Nou and that he hoped that journalists would find the comfort to do their work in the best conditions.
- Support from fans for the next match: Finally, the President encouraged fans to support the team in the next match, which he defined as "crucial" for the sporting objectives of the season.
A space for meeting and proximity
After the speech, President Joan Laporta shared a relaxed space with the attendees, chatting informally about the current affairs of the Club and answering the concerns of the communication professionals. These types of meetings, which are already a tradition in the Barça calendar, reinforce the relationship of trust and collaboration between FC Barcelona and the media.
With this Christmas lunch, FC Barcelona not only celebrates the work carried out during the year, but also reaffirms its commitment to the values of transparency and dialogue, recognizing the essential work of journalists in the construction and transmission of the Barça reality.
