As a an FC Barcelona player, he featured in the Club's second ever game on 24 December 1899 at the old Bonanova Velodrome which ended in a 3-1 win for Barça.
A representative of the established English school of football of the era, his ability was markedly greater than those of the average local player at the start of the 20th century. He started his career at FC Barcelona playing in midfield but in the years 1902-1905 he moved back to play at left back. Once his great friend Joan Gamoer had retired, in his last two seasons Witty became captain.
A dedicated Barça fan, he was member number 1 from 1930 to his death 39 years later.
