Barça 97-95 Casademont Zaragoza: Winning run continues

The blaugranes round off an excellent week with another win at the Palau against tricky opposition

A perfect week for FC Barcelona as Joan Peñarroya's side saw off Casademont Zaragoza at the Palau 97-95 in the league. In the final period Barça turned the game around to claim a 14th win in the ACB competition with Metu and Parker key in the final moments.

From behind

The first period saw Barça way below their best and were soon behind. Dame Sarr helped them back to level terms but Zaragoza again eased away to take a 27-20 lead at the end of the quarter. The second quarter saw the blaugranes fall 13 points in arrears with the visitors continuing to dominate and by half time the score read 52-42 to Zaragoza.

After being 14 points behind in the third quarter, Brizuela and Abrines combined to reduce that lead to eight points. Barça began to hold their own against visitors but they were still 9 points behind going into the final period.

Happy ending

Kevin Punter and Metu found their range in the fourth quarter and somehow brought it back to 78-78. Punter put the blaugranes ahead for the first time in the second half at 83-80 as the momentum of the game swung one way and then another. The lead for the blaugranes reached five points before Zaragoza came back and almost levelled it up but excellent defensive workd from Parker allowed the blaugranes to take a 97-95 win.
