The clubs that are part of Euroleague basketball have decided, in an electronic meeting, to end the 2019/20 campaign, meaning their will be no champion this season. This Monday, May 25, was the deadline to decide if the continental competition was to be resumed or if it was to end.
In a statement, the Euroleague has said that it explored all possible options, but that for reasons of health and safety of all the members, it has made the decision to cancel the season. The Eurocup will not be held either.
The Euroleague has also explained that the 18 teams that have participated in this season will continue to play Euroleague 2020/21.
At the time the competition stopped, Barça were in third place - tied with Real Madrid - with a balance of 22-6 and had won nine games consecutively.
