FC Barcelona basketball present in international success

The basketball section at FC Barcelona has a long history with international victories for its players. The new shooting guard at FC Barcelona Lassa Pau Ribas has become the latest blaugrana to have a gold medal hung around his neck following Spain’s 80-63 victory over Lithuania in the EuroBasket 2015 final. The man from Badalona, just outside Barcelona, wins his first international medal and joins a list of 22 blaugranes who have won medals in the Olympic Games, the World Championships or the European Championships (EuroBasket).

Juan Carlos Navarro the most decorated

On that list of players the one with most international medals to his name is FC Barcelona Lassa captain Juan Carlos Navarro. The shooting guard has won two silver medals in the Olympic Games, in Beijing in 2008 and in London in 2012 – a gold in the World Championships in Japan in 2006, two golds at the EuroBasket in 2009 and 2011, 1 silver and a bronze.

Juan Antonio San Epifanio with a silver in the 1984 Olympics, a silver in the 1983 EuroBasket and a bronze in 1991 and Sasha Djordjevic with a silver in the Olympics in 1996, a gold in the 1998 World Championships and a goal in the 1997 EuroBasket are the players who follow the blaugrana captain with three medals each.
