Rivaldo and Patrick Kluivert are the two latest additions to coach José Mari Bakero’s squad for the game against the Manchester United Legends. Just a few days after Ronaldinho, Edgar Davids and Simao Sabrosa confirmed that they are playing, two more star names have been included in the list, and there are sure to be others for the first ever Barça Legends fixture at the Camp Nou.
Other former first team favourites that will be there on June 30 at 7.00pm CET include Angoy, Guzmán, Juan Carlos, Popescu, Nadal, Belletti, Andersson, Déhu, Edmílson, Goikoetxea, Mendieta, Giuly and Julio Salinas.
Meanwhile, the Manchester United Legends will be managed by Andy Ritchie and will be bringing some memorable names of their own, including Blomqvist, Fortune, Poborsky, Berbatov, Ji Sung Park, Silvestre and Dwight Yorke.
The FCB team made its debut last month in a game played in Beirut, Lebanon, beating the Real Madrid Leyendas 3-2 thanks to goals from Giuly and Simao, all three of which came from Ronaldinho assists, After this game at the Camp Nou, they also have a return match lined up at Old Trafford, home of the Red Devils, on September 2 at 3.00pm local time.
Charity match
All proceeds from the game will be going to the PCCB (Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona) at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, which specialises in providing oncological treatment to children. Tickets cost between €10 and €19 and the donation will be used entirely to fund the construction of the new care and research centre.
How to get tickets
Tickets are already on sale via the club’s usual sales channels, including the official FCB Barcelona website, in person from the club ticket offices or via Ticketmaster.
Who are the Barça Legends?
The Barça Legends are the result of an FC Barcelona program to cherish the legacy of the players that have worn the first team shirt over the years. It is also another way to globalise the Barça name and values through its former players, as well as a means for stars to continue playing the game they love following retirement from professional duty. The idea behind the scheme is to arrange a series of matches and associated events in different parts of the world.
