Lionel Messi is the king of football. We have no doubt about that.
Against Girona we were treated to yet another masterclass, with two goals and one assist from the Argentinian in a 6-1 victory. He’s now scored against an all-time record of 36 different teams in La Liga.
The free kick on 36 minutes was an absolute treasure. He didn’t hit the ball over the wall. He didn’t sent it around the wall either. Or through it. He placed it underneath, in a manner reminiscent of the famous goal scored by Rivaldo in that epic 3-3 draw at AC Milan.
Another of Barça’s Brazilian greats, Ronaldinho, did something very similar against Werder Bremen at the Camp Nou in 2006.
