The battle of the reserves ended in a draw, despite Barça B taking the lead after just three minutes through Carles Aleñá. The second half also produced an early goal, this time for Sevilla’s second team and converted from the penalty spot by Gual.
That’s six draws for Barça B this season, taking their points tally up to 14.
Gerard López’s side included captain Palencia fresh back from two and half months side-lined through injury, plus Oriol Busquets and David Costas, a day after travelling with the first team to San Mamés.
Barça did all they could and more to try to re-establish their lead, but luck was not on their side over the last few metres in what deteriorated into a somewhat scrappy stop-start game.
The result was not the one the blaugrana wanted, but the football they played was often outstanding and the unbeaten record has been stretched to three games.
