FC Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final once again

After victory in the semi-final against Atheltic Club the blaugranes are through to their 27th final in the competition

After their 2-0 victory on Wednesday over Athletic Club in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Hansi Flick's team will face either Mallorca or Real Madrid in Sunday's final which kicks off at 8pm on Sunday.

Third in a row

The win against Athletic means that the blaugranes are in the Spanish Super Cup final for the third season in a row. In 2022/23 Barça claimed the trophy with a 3-1 win over Real Madrid thanks to goals from Gavi, Lewandowski and Pedri. Last season Real Madrid were once again their opponents, but the outcome was a different one, with Carlo Ancelotti's team winning 4-1.

Since the four team format was introduced in 2020, Barça have reached four of the six finals played. The final, against the winners of the other semi-final between Mallorca and Real Madrid, will be the 27th for FC Barcelona, a record with Real Madrid in second place on 19 appearances. Barça have claimed the trophy on 14 occasions more than any other club, a 15th on Sunday would be a first for new coach Hansi Flick in his first final as Barça boss.
