Valencia 0-1 Barça: Penalty seals win

Rolfö with the spot kick to keep the blaugranes unbeaten in the Liga F

Another win for the blaugranes as Barça Women have defeated Valencia 0-1 away at the Mestalla stadium. A Rolfö penalty not long into the second half ultimately proved the difference.

Slow burner for Barça

Valencia used the Mestalla stadium to their advantage to play a good first half. It was a very even affair from the off, as Cristian Toro's side worked hard in defence. They were set up very well to absorb the Barça's pressure, while posing a decent threat to Pere Romeu's side on the counter.

The blaugranes weren't at their fluid best creatively, particularly during the early part of the match, meaning their attacks didn't end up in clear cut opportunities to test the home side's goal.

Barça gradually grew into the game, though, and the first real chances to score came towards the end of the half. Jana went close with a powerful shot after 44 minutes and the very next play saw Pina almost score after a corner was repelled.

Rolfo scores the only goal of the game

With the score still 0-0 at the start of the second half, Barça came out to try to break the deadlock. The blaugranes had clearly stepped up the pace and that led to a penalty being awarded in the 53rd minute, as Claudia Florentino brought down Vicky López inside the area after she taken a touch to go one-on-one with Canales. Rolfö stepped up and made no mistake from the spot (0-1, Min 54).

Valencia attempted to score themselves to level up the game, but this time it was the blaugranes who put on a good defensive show to maintain their lead to the final whistle. One drawback from the game saw substitute Caroline Graham unfortunately needing to be replaced just 13 minutes after coming on in the second half after feeling some muscular discomfort.

This latest win for the blaugranes means they remain unbeaten in the domestic league, having won all their games, scoring 57 goals while only conceding 7. Next up, a European clash at the Estadi Olímpic as they welcome Manchester City to try to bring the group stage to a winning end (kickoff 6.45pm CET, 18 December).
