Paulinho announces retirement

Player who was at FC Barcelona in the 2017/18 tells social media that he's hanging up his boots

Paulinho has announced his retirement from football at the age of 36. After spending his final years at Corinthians, the Brazilian has been clubless since May and has decided it is time to call it a day.

The midfielder was at Barça for the league and cup double-winning 2017/218 season under Ernesto Valverde, playing 29 competitive fixtures and contributing nine goals and three assists.

After starting out with Audax in his home country, he also had spells at Tottenham Hotspur in England and Guangzhou Evergrande in China, and scored 13 goals for the Brazilian national team, which herepresented at the World Cup in both 2014 and 2018.
