FC Barcelona and CD Lugo have reached an agreement on the loan of Jaume Cuéllar for one season until 30 June 2024, and the Catalan club retains the option to purchase the player once the period expires.
This Saturday the player took a routine medical at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, and also posed in his new kit at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. He will be joining the Barça Atlètic squad for training under Rafa Márquez in the next few days, with the opening fixture in Primera Federación coming this Sunday at 9.30pm CEST at home to SD Logroñés.
Jaume Cuéllar is returning to Barça after playing here from 2015 to 2017, having started out at Blanes, a town to the north of Barcelona. He then left for Italy to play for SPAL for four season, where he even got some Coppa Italia and Serie A experience before returning to Spain to join Lugo in 2021.
Born in Granollers, Catalonia on 23 August 2001, Cuéllar is a right winger although he can also play on the left. He played 71 games in two seasons of Spanish Second Division football, scoring four goals and giving eight assists.
Although he was born in Spain, he represents Bolivia internationally, and featured in three games at the Copa America. He also played for the country at U17 and U20 level.
Cuéllar is an ambidextrous, attack-minded player who has managed to gain considerable experience despite his young age.
