Adama Traoré pulled on the blaugrana jersey once again to dramatic effect against Atlético Madrid, playing a central role in the 4-2 victory. Six and a half years after leaving in 2014/15 and after playing for Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Wolves, it was a triumphant return for the 26-year-old to Camp Nou.
His last game was on 15 January 2015 at Elche in the Copa del Rey, and his last at Camp Nou was a month before that.
Adama was involved in the build-up to Jordi Alba’s opener, and then laid up a brilliant cross from the by-line that Gavi headed home to make it 2-1.
His 40% success rate in dribble attempts was particularly impressive, and judging by today’s performance, he should go on to be a major component in Xavi’s plans for the future. After a highly active ‘second debut’, he was finally taken off after 61 minutes to make way for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
First game for Aubameyang
Thus we also got to get a somewhat briefer first glimpse of the Gabonese international, who also had an impact on Barça’s moves forward, making ten successful passes and getting involved in a number of goal attempts, albeit without fortune.
