MATCH PREVIEW: Cádiz v FC Barcelona

In their first visit to the Ramón de Carranza stadium in 14 years, the blaugranes will be looking to end a run of three league away games without a win

The football does not stop at the moment with the La Liga clash against Cádiz on Saturday at 9.00pm CET coming hot on the heels of Barça's 3-0 away win at Ferencváros in the Champions League.

It is 14 years since the blaugranes last played at the Ramón Carranza Stadium and they go their this weekend in search of a first away win in four matches in the league.

14 years since last meeting

  • In the league, in 24 meetings Barça have only ever lost twice to Cádiz; once in the 1981/82 and famously 4-0 in 1990/91 just days before claiming the league title.
  • Barça have won their last six against Saturday's opponents.
  • The last time the two sides met came in April of 2006 when a goal from Ronaldinho handed Barça all three points. The blaugranes went on to claim the league title and Cádiz were relegated, returning only this season after promotion from the Second Division. .

Messi looking to add another name to his list

Strange to think that Leo Messi will come up against a league opponent against who he has never scored on Saturday. The Barça captain has only faced Cádiz once in his career and in the Ramón de Carranzo he will be aiming to make them number 38 on his list of La Liga victims.

Koeman's squad

Ter Stegen, Dest, R. Araujo, Sergio, Aleñá, Griezmann, Pjanić, Braithwaite, Messi, O. Dembélé, Riqui Puig, Neto, Coutinho, Lenglet, Pedri, Trincão, Jordi Alba, F. De Jong, Junior, Iñaki Peña and O. Mingueza.

Ronald Araujo returns to the squad after recovering from injury but still out are  Piqué, Sergi Roberto, Ansu Fati and Umtiti.

"We have to win every game until New Year," said coach Ronald Koeman in his appearance before the press ahead of the trip to Cádiz with Barça facing a packed calendar between now and the arrival of 2021. The Dutch coach is no stranger to success against Saturday's opponents having scored no less than four goals against them during his Barça playing career.
