FC Barcelona’s wonderful 2-0 win at the Juventus Stadium left plenty of facts and stats, and here’s the cream of the crop:
Dembélé on fire
The Frenchman opened the scoring with an absolute beauty, which means he has scored in back-to-back Champions League games for the first time ever. His six completed dribbles rate matched Leo Messi for the highest in the game.
Messi omnipresent
The Argentinian created five chances against Juventus, the highest one-game tally by anyone in the competition this season. Messi played a part in nine of Barça’s 13 goal attempts and 75 of his 79 passes found their man. Spectacular.
Pedri unstoppable
The young Canary Islander started the game on the left and thoroughly impressed throughout the 90 minutes, displaying skill and completing four dribbles, as well as amassing an exceptional 39/41 pass rate.
Koeman’s first win in Italy
“Our best game of the season” was a special one for Ronald Koeman because in seven games as player and nine as manager in Italy he had previously only accumulated six draws and ten defeats. It took 17 games to do it, but he can finally say he was won a game in Italy.
Top shots
Two games into the Champions League and Barça and Bayern Munich lead the shot count with 35 attempts on goal each. 15 of barça’s have been on target, only topped by Atalanta with 17.
Top scorers
With seven goals in two games (Messi (2), Dembélé (2), Ansu Fati, Coutinho and Pedri) Barça are joint top for goals with Manchester United.
Pass masters
Barça made 634 passes against Juve, a tally only topped this season by the 661 made against Ferencváros. It was also the game with third highest possession (59%), behind only the games with Getafe (73%) and Ferencváros (62%).
First win in Turin
The best Barça had managed in Turin before last night was three draws (all in the Champions League), while they had lost on their other three competitive visits. In fact, Barça are only the third team ever to win at Juventus in the Champions League, following on from Real Madrid and Deportivo de La Coruña.
Tight defence
Juve didn’t manage a single shot on target last night, the third time a team has failed to do so against Barça in 2020, Athletic at Camp Nou and Alavés at Mendizorroza being the others.
Sergi Roberto half ton
The Catalan became the sixth defender to play 50 Champions League games in a Barça shirt.
