UEFA Youth League: Barça 2-3 Slavia Prague

Ten man Barça look to have salvaged a point right at the end but the Czechs clinch it with a late winner

Luck was not on the U19 team’s side at the Estadi Johan Cruyff as they lost 3-2 to Slavia Prague in the fourth game of the UEFA Youth League group stage. Playing with a man less, they managed to get back into the game, only to be beaten by a Czech goal right at the end.

Barça had looked in comfortable command early on and deservedly went ahead through a quality finish from Konrad just after the quarter hour mark. But the visitors were quick to respond, and Barça keeper Tenas was kept very busy for much of the first half.

He was eventually beaten from the penalty spot. Rosanas handballed and Červ converted to leave the team all-square at the break.

And the second half had barely started when a series of chaotic rebounds ended with Kosek putting Slavia 2-1 ahead, and the situation only got worse when Álvaro Sanz was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Despite being down to ten men, Barça piled on the pressure and Nils had already hit the post before cannoning in an equaliser with just five minutes on the clock.

But the joy only lasted two minutes. A Slavia free kick was nodded goalwards by Toula and Barça will now need to beat both Inter and Borussia in their final two fixtures to have any chance of progressing to the next round.
