Five stats from an unforgettable Clásico

What a night that was in Jeddah and for Barça fans all around the world. Real Madrid were utterly blitzed to the tun of a 5-2 crushing at King Abdullah Sports City and here are five things that you might not have realised about a night that goes down in the annals of blaugrana history.  

Second thumping

Coming less than three months after the 4-0 drubbing dished out at the Santiago Bernabéu, this was the first time ever that Barça have scored four or more goals against Real Madrid in two consecutive fixtures. It's only the second time either club has ever achieved the feat, the all-whites having enjoyed back-to-back wins of 5-1 and 4-0 way back in 1963.

This was the first time that Real Madrid had conceded four goals in the first half a game since May 2006, when Sevilla got off to a similarly stunning start against them at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

What a half

Barça had not scored three more goals in the first half of a Clásico since 2 May 2006, the day of the memorable 6-2 win at the Bernabéu, when Henry, Puyol and Messi all scored before the break. Now Flick can claim to have led the team to one better. 

Trident on fire 

Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha all contributed goals on Sunday, the second time that the forward trio have all scored in the same game this season. The other occasion was also against Real Madrid in the league game at the Bernabéu. 

Flick to kick

Hans-Dieter Flick has won his first two games against Real Madrid, thus joining a select group of coaches to have achieve the same feat, namely Jack Domby (1926), Kubala (1962), Olsen (1965), Menotti (1983), Venables (1984), Guardiola (2009) and Gerardo Martino (2014). The record opening run is the three wins under Pep Guardiola, a run that Flick is now just one game away from matching.
