Barça coach Hansi Flick is here to win trophies and now he has his first chance to claim silverware. The blaugranes are just two games away from the Spanish Super Cup title with the first hurdle to come on Wednesday in the form of a semi-final against Athletic Club de Bilbao in Saudi Arabia.
The German appeared in the pre-game press conference in Jeddah ahead of the game against the Basque side and admitted the tough challenge ahead of his team. "Playing against Athletic is always tough. They are a very good team and I like how they play - a lot of one on ones, quick breaks. I hope it's a really good game and that we can win," said Flick.
"Everyone is ready for the Super Cup. In the end, when you win trophies, it's good for everyone; the Club, the staff, the players. We are working hard and training hard and we are very professional. A win would be well deserved."
Lamine Yamal, ready
When asked if Lamine Yamal would be fit for Wednesday's game, Hansi Flick had this to say: "He has trained three or four time with us and he's ready. He might play." If the teenager does make an appearance, he will be the focus of attention for the fans in Saudi Arabia who "love football, they know all our players and that is great" according to the Barça coach.
United in the face of adversity
The German coach could not avoid questions on the situation involving Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. "We will wait. That's the only thing we can do. It's not easy for them and the team wants them back. There is the chance that this will being us even closer together. We have to show that we are a team. I have confidence in the club," concluded Flick.
