FC Barcelona are in Saudi Arabia. The team touched down in Jeddah, the country's second largest city, this Monday, ready to compete in the Spanish Super Cup, the four-team tournament that's happening from January 8 to 12. Barça have won the trophy more than anyone else, 14 times, but not at all since 2020. It's high time we had another blaugrana victory!
The first semi-final is this Wednesday against Athletic Club, and should Barça survive that test, they'll be playing Real Madrid or Mallorca for the trophy on Sunday.
Monday flight
The Barça delegation left Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airport at 2pm CET and some five and a half hours later landed at King Abzulaziz International Airport at 7.30pm CET (9.30 pm local time)
President Joan Laporta is leading the expedition, joined by first vice-president Rafa Yuste, and board members Xavier Barbany, Miquel Camps, Xavi Puig, Aureli Mas, Àngel Riudalbas and Joan Soler.
Hansi Flick, plus his coaches and players, were then transferred to the hotel where, if all goes well, they'll be spending the next seven nights.
Tuesday training
Having trained in Barcelona before the flight, the first workout on Saudi soil will be on Tuesday at King Abdullah Sports City, which is hosting all three games in the competition. That session is scheduled to begin at 6pm CET.
